Sundance proper is beginning as I type, and will really gear up this weekend. In fact, if you knocked every plane out of the sky right now, we’d lose a whole lot of film bloggers. This saturday though, a small documentary will debut with an interesting subject… BDSM. More specifically, it looks at the Kinkposterproduction of BDSM material from Kink.com, which is one of the bigger online porn companies these days. James Franco is one of the producers, and director Christina Voros has clearly produced a nicely shot, super pro doc.

The trailer above gives you a pretty much SFW look at the film (the audio is a little intense at points), and shows that it’s really about demystifying the production and internal culture of the company. Mostly these are people happily doing a job in your usual collaborative film envrionment, surrounded by people doing a whole lot of standard production work to bring content to the screen. That’s not to say the content is standard- this is pretty wickedly intense material they’re producing, which makes the normalcy of most of the people involved all that much more interesting.

For all the millions having their minds blown by 50 Shades of Grey and that whole nilla wafer peek into the BDSM world, this is the kind of stuff that would actually make their heads explode. It’s unclear how much of the actual product the doc will show, but I have a feeling this is not something you’re gonna break out with the kids anywhere within a hundred miles of the house.

With the names involved, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of this getting picked up for some kind of distribution. Keep your ears and other holes open if this is up your alley.
