Affleck isn’t all prestige and edgy thrillers these days- the man still knows how to lead a comedy. We’ll get to see him do so again with Focus, a WB comedy from the team behind Crazy, Stupid, Love.

The blandly-titled Focus is a script that’s been kicking around for a while, and was originally a vehicle for directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa to reunite their Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone pairing, but it was not to be. Now it’s a Ben Affleck vehicle, and Kristen Stewart has confirmed herself as the female lead in her On The Road press travels.

The script is a much-passed one that has a newbie con-woman getting involved with a more experienced grifter, things getting romantic, and hilarity ensuing when the two must encounter each other again. It’s definitely wing-stretching for Stewart, if something of a weird step for Affleck who is coasting on so much clout and is picking up a part supposedly passed on by guys like Pitt and Damon.

Regardless, this is another step in the more adult career of Kristen Stewart post-Twilight, and a balancing move from Affleck. Always funny how calculated theses kinds of romantic comedies come across, but such is the business.
